The Alex Locke Charitable Fund
The donations to Alex's Fund have now reached nearly £8,000, and the family would like to thank all who have donated so generously. We are aware that some fund raising activities are still ongoing and hope that the fund will reach £10,000. An amazing tribute to Alex and a reflection of her generous and caring nature. The Charitable Fund bank account has now been set up, and all monies received will now be deposited a.s.a.p. It will take more time to set up the “ Just Sharing” charity, which, at present, we envisage supporting, firstly, the Indian orphans who were praying for Alex to get well and are now praying for Joe ,Meg and Ella, and secondly, helping some disadvantaged children who live locally, something Simon and I feel Alex would also support. Some money will be retained in the bank account to “drip feed” the Indian project, as to make a very large donation may not be appropriate at this time.
We also intend to give some of the money to the following cancer support charities:-
- MacMillan Nurses – who provided comfort and practical support to Alex, Simon and the family in the weeks before Alex died.
- The Maggie Centres at Singleton and Charring Cross hospitals – patient support centres set up by Proff. Robert Leonard, who was a great support to Alex and Sue throughout Alex's illness.
- Icon, the Cancer Active publication which is circulated in hospitals and provides patients with impartial information on cancer issues.
An update of how your money is helping the children in the “Just Sharing” project will be posted from time to time.
Our thanks again to all who have given so generously.
Sue, Simon and family.
We have endevoured to contact everyone who has given money but there may be people for whom we do not have addresses. We have posted this letter on Alex’ web site and would ask those of you have not already left a tribute that we would welcome all contributions and pictures as they will prove a wonderful legacy for the children in future years.
Can we also take this opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
